Have Candles at the Ready as Gales to Return Tonight

It might not have been a white Christmas but it is certainly a stormy one which looks set to continue.

You might have had to hold onto your umbrella very tightly yesterday or perhaps had to throw it out completely. You also might have had to whip out the candles and torches as well as find another source of entertainment other than the television.

And you might find yourself in the exact same situation tonight as forecasters predict the blustery weather, which brought down trees and left many homes across the country without power over the weekend, could return.

We’re sure there were more than a few umbrellas thrown out during the week.

Yesterday Met Éireann issued a weather warning and this evening could see another bout of stormy weather as the wind and rain look set to return.

Forecaster Joan Blackburn told the Irish Independent: “It’s a very disturbed picture over the next few days. Atlantic weather is dominating and there’ll be wet and windy spells.”

Temperatures are also believed to be taking a dip this weekend with frost expected in most parts of the country.

This Christmas has been very mild but temperatures are expected to drop soon.
