She wrote one of the most successful book series of all time but it seems that while JK Rowling has enjoyed considerable success with her first novel for adults, she has been trumped by a popular television personality.
Chef Jamie Oliver’s latest book, which was released on the same day as Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy, has finally overtaken it to become the best-selling hardback of the year.
Jamie’s latest book has continued to sell strongly despite a slow start.
Jamie’s 15-Minute Meals, based on the popular Channel 4 show of the same name, has sold almost 400,000 copies finally taking it ahead of Rowling’s novel which has sold just under 320,000 copies so far.

Fifty Shades of Grey, the first in the trilogy, sold over 650,000 in one week.
