They are books that inspired the minds of both children and adults alike.
Today marks the very special birthdays of both JK Rowling and her fictitious hero Harry Potter.
In honour of the JK Rowling’s 48th birthday and Harry’s 33rd (we officially feel ancient), we’ve put together 11 of our favourite quotes from the books. They bring back fond memories:
1) “You’re a wizard, Harry” – Hagrid: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
2) “The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution.” – Dumbledore: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
3) “It is our choices, Harry, far more than our abilities, that show who we truly are” – Dumbledore: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
4) “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good” – Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
5) “If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals” – Sirius Black: Harry Potter and Goblet of fire
6) “time will not slow down when something unpleasant lies ahead” – JK Rowling: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
7) “Just because you have the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn’t mean we all have” – Hermione: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
8) “The mind is a complex and many-layered thing, Potter … or at least, most minds are…” Severus Snape: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
9) “Time is making fools of us again” – Dumbledore: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
10) “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love” – Dumbledore: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
And finally…
“To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” – Dumbledore: Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone
We realise a lot these are quotes from Dumbledore but the man is oozing with positive and philosophical observations of life, how could we ignore them?
Happy birthday you two – you’ll always have a place in our hearts.
