We still can believe it’s her last but if Maeve Binchy was planning on going out on a high, she succeed with her final novel A Week In Winter.
The book, which spent weeks at number one in Ireland following its release in October, has just topped the New York Times Bestseller list following its release in the US.
Full of her usual charm, wit and vivid characters A Week In Winter was finished shortly before the author’s untimely death aged 72 last July.

Set in the fictional summer seaside town of Stoneybridge, the book focuses on the guesthouse Stone House and its inhabitants during the off-season.
Binchy was the highest-earning writer last year with many of her older titles still selling well around the country. A Week In Winter sold 36,582 copies, taking in €525,925.65 in sales.
Over 40 million copies of the Dalkey woman’s novels have been sold worldwide and translated into 37 languages.
