Cindi Lauper’s hit Girls Just Want To Have Fun may have been popular in the eighties but it turns out modern day women are a bit boring!
A new survey has revealed that a third of women in 2012 believe that they are dull and that men are more interesting creatures.
According to The Mail Online, 35 per cent of women feel stuck in a rut because of the stresses that come with full time employment and raising a family and often don’t have time to dedicate to socialising.
Nearly 40 per cent of women believe that men are more joyful because of their busy social lives and three quarters believe that men have ‘less responsibility in the home’.
However, it’s not just life’s dilemmas that are holding us back as many of us are too shy to start a party!
Women find it difficult to find time to socialise when they have a family and a full-time job
Only one in seven revealed that they are the instigator of the craic and 35 per cent revealed that their boyfriend or husband is the most likely person to make them laugh the hardest.
Meanwhile, men agree with most revealing that they think they’re great fun.
Eleven per cent admit to making themselves laugh more than anyone else.
Consultant psychologist Anjula Mutanda said: ‘Women feel they are still shouldering more of the household responsibilities, giving them less time to step back and have fun.
“Couples need to stop psychologically dividing household tasks into men’s and women’s work and adopt a more 50/50 approach.
“Women also tend to laugh more when a man tells a joke than vice versa.
“This affects how a woman may behave and her confidence about being seen to be the instigator of fun and humour,” she said.
Speaking for ourselves, we think we’re great craic, altogether! A few cocktails and some Flo Rida tunes will knock the fun into all of us this Friday night.
Do you consider yourself boring?
