Well according to
Mashable, this phenomenon is known as 'Gatsbying'.
It's named after the protagonist in classic book
The Great Gatsby who went to great lengths to catch the eye of his crush Daisy Buchanan.
"Posting a Snapchat to your story and then waiting for that one specific person to watch it, is the modern day equivalent of Gatsby throwing elaborate parties seeking Daisy's attention," wrote a
Reddit user named Cupcake-Warrior, coining the phrase.
It makes perfect sense and now that we have a name for it, expect to be mercilessly slagged by your friends the next time you 'casually' post a pouty selfie late at night.
