Met Eireann have issued a flood warning for the south and east coasts of the country.
The alert will remain in place until 3pm today.
The weather forecasters said high tides, low pressure and onshore southeast gales, along with possible rainfall of up to 25mm, has the potential for coastal flooding today.
A gale warning has also been issued as southeast winds will continue to reach gale force from Rossan Point to Howth Head to Hook Head and on the Irish Sea this morning.
Warnings have been issued to drivers on Irish roads.
Dublin City Council have closed the car parks at Sandymount Strand and Clontarf as a flood defence precaution.
In Cork, the council has advised householders and local business owners to take measures to protect their properties over the coming days. It has issued a list of vulnerable areas and although the flood waters have resided, they are still urged to be very cautious this weekend.
Sandbags have been distributed in Galway and Dublin.
AA Roadwatch has advised motorists to be careful as there is a lot of surface water on various roads across the country.
