From Young Love To The Lorax: DVD Picks of the Week

The cold winter nights are perfect for snuggling up with a few treats and a good DVD so what are you waiting for?

Rebecca McKnight

A psychic, a pair of students, a strange creature, a group of party-goers and a superhero: we’ve got quite the mix for you this week!

Hiding behind a pillow

Red Lights (12A) – Cillian Murphy, Robert De Niro and Sigourney Weaver star in this thriller about a paranormal investigator and her assistant who look into a world-famous psychic who has suddenly resurfaced.

Crying

Like Crazy (12A) – In this romantic drama a British student called Anna (Felicity Jones) falls in love with an American student (Anton Yelchin) but when she outstays her visa she is denied access to the US, tearing them apart.

Snuggling up with the little ones

Dr Seuss’ The Lorax (G) – A young boy tries to find a tree in order to impress the girl of his dreams (who wants a tree by the way) but to do so, he has to enter a world inhabited by the unusual creature known as The Lorax.

Laughing

New Year’s Eve (12A) – It has more big names than sense and more storylines than necessary but this flick is guaranteed to get you into the festive mood. While it’s nowhere near as good as Love Actually it is certainly worth a watch.

Being glued to the edge of your seat

The Amazing Spiderman (12A) – Andrew Garfield steps into the red and blue suit in this action film about a teenager who is bitten by a spider and develops some of its characteristics which he then uses to fight evil. Along the same lines as the first one but much better. Emma Stone also stars.
