Over on ClickandGo.com, for €499 you get seven nights, flights, and transfers on the Spanish island of Gran Canaria off the north-west coast of Africa (based on two sharing). At the moment, that €499 all-in deal applies to Tuesday, July 4; Wednesday July 5, and Thursday July 6, as well as Tuesday July 11. Flights depart in the late afternoon which means no arriving totally wrecked from a nasty 6am outbound journey either. The hotel - the Puerto Plata -is self-catering, has decent on-site facilities, and it looks to be pretty laid back and casual. It has a 3.5 star rating on TripAdvisor with two-thirds of the reviewers rating it as Excellent or Very Good. It's located in the popular Puerto Rico part of the island - which has loads of bars and restaurants as well as scuba-diving, snorkelling, and boat trips to see dolphins and whales. Otherwise, we're always big fans of just lying back by the pool with a decent book and a beverage. Bliss!
