Now that Storm Desmond has gone on his merry way, it's time to start exploring your local Christmas village. Wander through all of the pretty stalls with piping hot glasses mulled wine in hand. Picture perfect.

4. A night at the carols
Oh the weather outside is frightful, but there's no need not to take advantage of all the fantastic concerts coming up over the next couple of weeks. Whether it's a panto or a night of carols, find one that you'll both enjoy and get it in the diary.
5. Snuggle up
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Take a break from all of the festive nights out, curl up on the sofa and finally watch that movie you've been talking about since last summer.
