Fifty Shades of Grey author, E.L. James listened to music by The Black Eyed Peas while wrote her infamous dirty trilogy.
The author revealed she had the song ‘Sexy’, from the group’s 2003 album Elephunk on repeat while she was penning the sexcapades of Anastasia Steel and Dr. Christian Grey.
According to The Sun, James said: “I have songs that I write sex to. One of them is the Black Eyed Peas’ Sexy. That is a very sexy song.”
For those unfamiliar, the tune features lyrics like: “For you I’m a fanatic, I’m an addict, your sexy antics turn me on like automatic.”

The author also spoke about the cover of her novels, which she designed to be discreet, allowing women to indulge in the filthy reads without everyone knowing.
“I designed the covers because in my early 30s I read a lot of romantic fiction when I was slogging in and out of London on the Tube.
“But they had these horrible covers with women with clothes falling off.
“I hated that and I had to bend the covers back. So I designed really discrete covers so that no one would ever know it is salacious,” she said.
Her.ie thinks E.L.’s ‘discreet’ covers may have backfired when the novels went viral earlier this year and even those who live under a rock have heard of the notorious Christian Grey.

However, the author thinks that readers with E-books have the best of both worlds.
“E-book readers have been very liberating for people because they can read whatever they like with no judgment,” she said.
Her.ie is definitely more comfortable reading Fifty Shades Darker on our Kindle. We don’t think we’re brave enough to take the hard copy onto a jam-packed Luas just yet!
