We’re not sure how many people ever listen to the in-flight safety guide at the start of a flight, but we think this might have caused a couple of panic attacks at the time.
An aeroplane’s escape slide was accidentally inflated on a United Airlines flight on Sunday, causing the slide to bulge out into the aisle after ballooning near the cabin doors.
The incident caused the Chicago to California flight to be diverted to Witchita, Kansas, where emergency crews were waiting.
A passenger speaking to ABC News said:
“”The captain made an announcement that we’re gonna land in Wichita.
“He said, ‘Don’t worry about the emergency trucks, it’s just standard procedure.'”

Although United Airlines said the cause of the opening was unclear, reports from kake.com hints that this contradicts files from emergency operators that someone aboard the jet had tried to open the emergency door.
The passenger also told reporters that he was relieved to leave the aircraft saying:
“My theory about flying is any landing you walk away from is a good one.”
All passengers exited, unharmed, on a portable stairway – not a slide – in case you were wondering.
