Want to know how you can rev up your sex life by slowing down? Apparently it’s as easy as taking a few deep breaths and relaxing.

According to some new research today, meditation is one of the fastest ways to give your sex life a major boost. Yes, apparently practicing mindful relaxation could help fan the flames of desire in the bedroom (no wonder Buddhists are always so happy, huh?)

Researchers at the University of British Columbia in Canada and researchers at Israel’s Hadassah University Hospital have discovered that just a few sessions of meditation every week can speed up the time it takes you to reach arousal and add some ‘oomph!’ to your sex drive.

How did the researchers come to this conclusion? Well the measured the reactions of 24 women who watched a naughty, dirty film. The women then attended three ‘mindfulness’ meditation courses and were asked to watch the film for a second time.

Despite the fact that the women had already seen the film before and therefore knew what was going to happen, the results show that they were more turned on than they were during the first viewing.

Meditation gives us the ability to shut off the part of our brain that distracts us during sex

Researchers believe that meditation allows you to ‘turn off’ the active part of your brain that is likely to distract you during sex and instead allows your brain to focus on the specific feeling sand sensations instead.

So you’ll find your romps are much more satisfying after a couple of rounds of meditation. Nice, right? And do you want to know the best thing about meditation? Not only is it super relaxing, it’s also totally easy to learn.

All you have to do is sit down somewhere comfy, put your hands on your lap and calm your mind by focussing on your breathing. Every time a stray thought passes your mind, just bring your attention back to your breathing.

There are dozens of health benefits associated with meditation, so not only will practicing this ancient art give you a boost in the bedroom department, you’ll also find you’re less stressed, better able to switch off after a hard day at the office and have a general feeling of well-being about you.
