It’s amazing how people undergoing immense pain find the strength to turn something heartbreakingly sad into something wonderful.
This particular story is certainly evidence of this and it really touched us here in the Her.ie office.
In October 2012, Amy was diagnosed with stage 3C metastatic ovarian cancer. She then had surgery and months of chemotherapy treatment which gave her and her family hope for the future.
However, in October 2013 the cancer returned and doctors explained that this time it was resistant to traditional treatment which meant Amy’s cancer was now terminal.
Her family decided to do something special for Amy and the day before her 56th birthday, 50 of Amy’s friends and family travelled from five different states.
They then choreographed and performed a special flash mob for Amy. Amy’s delighted reaction can be seen in the corner of the video and it’s very moving to watch, (we had to reach for the tissues).
“We don’t know exactly how much time we have left together,” says the text at the start of this amazing video. “But what we do know is that being present in the moment is of the utmost importance.”
