Okay okay maybe we got a bit excited about the John Lewis Christmas Advert this morning. We’ve given you the video, the reactions and all the information about the artist behind the song.
But this story totally deserves of one more piece. This is the tale of the unintentional Internet fame of one @JohnLewis.
It all started way yonder back when in 2013 when the people started taking to twitter en masse to celebrate the John Lewis Ad.
As expected, many would tweet @JohnLewis assuming the influential, power house retailer would be behind that twitter handle. Unfortunately, its not the case. This account belongs to the most patient man on the planet.
@JohnLewis is just a regular Joe Soap from Virginia. In fact, he’s a Computer Science professor at Virginia Tech.
But instead of being frustrated by the ignorance of, well, the world of twitter users, John responds to every single one.
99+ notifications. Sigh.

.@vikingship I prefer to think of the Monty / Mabel romance as platonic, at least in a little boy’s imagination. @johnlewisretail — John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 15, 2014
.@StephanieJay_UK That was my suggestion, actually, but thankfully they went a different way. @johnlewisretail — John Lewis (@johnlewis) November 6, 2015

.@FirstFridayUK I cannot confirm or deny such rumors because I don’t want to spoil the fun. Oh, and because I am not @johnlewisretail. — John Lewis (@johnlewis) October 20, 2015
