If you’ve ever had to send a text message or email apologising for your fat fingers in the last message, you’ll know what we’re on about…

This new “thimble” for smartphones lets people with larger digits get to grips with their fiddly smartphone touchscreens.

The “tips” work on the touchscreens of hi-tech smartphones using a special conductive tip which the screen “reads” easily.

Another plus? The accessory called Tech Tips, comes in different sizes for fingers of all lengths and widths and can even be fitted over thick gloves, perfect for texting in cold weather.

The creator of the invention is Sri Vellanki, 46, who found it tough to use her iPhone with her long fingernails so she decided there was potential to create something called a Tech Tip.

The product, available in packs of four priced $9.99 (at the exchange rate this equals to €7.41) from www.usetechtips.com proved a hit at the Consumer Electronic Show 2013 in Las Vegas this year.

The company even offers to customise the stylus with a logo…

Sri, originally from India but now living in Montana, USA,  said: “I got my first iPhone in 2011 and I was having problems because it always had to make skin contact and my nails didn’t work.

“I thought I could make an electrically conductive nail polish and easily fix the problem but it turned out to be more complicated than that.

“So I figured out what had to be done to make a very small stylus that was comfortable, economical and extremely accurate.”

Now there are no excuses for any misspellings in texts. Freudian slip of the finger, what do you even mean?!
