Christmas markets are continuing to grow in popularity and it’s not surprising with the amount there are now.
But if you feel like a real festive treat this year (it is the season to be jolly after all!), it might be worth looking a little further afield…
1. Bath
What: This Christmas market is only a stone’s throw away and it offers a wide range of unique gifts and decorations.

When: Until December 15th.
2. Munich
What: If you fancy something historical and artistic, the market in Munich is the one for you. From concerts to candles, you can embrace your creative side here.
Where: Marienplatz in the City Centre.
When: Until December 24th.
3. Brussels
What: There are plenty of fun attractions to keep you entertained in Brussels this year including an outdoor ice rink, a light show and a big wheel.
Where: Place Sainte Catherine and the Marché aux Poissons.
When: Until January 5th.
4. Cologne
What: Why have one festive market when you can have four filled with local delicacies and all with a beautiful backdrop?
Where: Cologne Cathedral.
When: Until December 23rd.
5. Berlin
What: Berlin is seen by many as the capital city of the Christmas market and it’s no wonder, the Gendarmenmarkt one is filled with handmade gifts, music performances and variety acts.
Where: Gendarmenmarkt.
When: Until December 31st.
6. Prague
What: As well as tasty treats and gorgeous gifts, you can also take in some incredible sites in the historical city of Prague.
Where: Old Town Square.
When: Until January 1st.
7. Bruges
What: You might not see Colin Farrell but you will see a variety of goods, lots of local food and an irresistible ice rink.
Where: Market Square.
When: Until January 2nd.
8. Edinburgh
What: This European Christmas market has been going for 20 years, caters for all needs and isn’t too far away. What more could you want?
Where: The Mound Precinct and East Princes Street Gardens.
When: Until January 5th.
