A study from the University of Toronto Mississauga showed that women who had more than 15 minutes of snuggling after sex felt significantly more appreciated and cared for by their partner.
Published in the Archives of Sexual Behaviour, "kissing, caressing, and loving talk" after intercourse are all associated with greater sexual and relationship satisfaction leading to a deeper bond between a pair.
Sex therapist Kat Van Kirk said that the physical closeness alone isn’t enough either, and introducing some conversation to your cuddling could curb any feelings of discontent:
"It can help you relax, inhibit any sensations of pain—emotional or physical—and help reinforce to your partner that you are invested and committed to them.”
What if your other half doesn’t want to wrap you in cuddles after throwing the leg over?
Van Kirk points out that for most women, the act of feeling intimately close can usually lead to a second arousal:
"Cuddling can help keep you aroused for another roll in the hay.”
Just think of those 15 minutes as a rest period.
