Does your dog have a bank account? We’re asking because a man in Leicestershire was left seriously confused when he received a letter from the bank addressed to ‘Noodles the Dog’ which informed the canine that he had gone into his overdraft.
Digital Spy reports that Rupert Chapman was left seriously bemused when the letter arrived at his house, mainly because his own dog is called Charley. Assuming that the letter belonged to the previous tenants of the house, Mr Chapman decided to reply to bank with a letter from his own dog, Charley.
“I have searched every nook and cranny in the house in an attempt to find sufficient funds to repay you. I have found four drachma and 24 pesetas behind the toilet pedestal and under the stairs. I was wondering whether this would meet your needs?” wrote Mr Chapman in his letter.
“I am sorry I do not have a forwarding address and Noodles hasn’t left any leads. I could check things out on the night chorus but frankly don’t wish to bring bad fortune on my predecessor, who has done such a good job of keeping the neighbour’s cats at bay,” he added.
Wait… I owe HOW much?!
“When the letter came it was addressed to Noodles the Dog – it was clearly someone who was in the house before – and I had no idea what it could be,” said Mr Chapman, speaking to a local paper about the incident.
“We moved in in August and the previous people had rented and I didn’t know who they were, so I thought it would be fitting to send a reply from Charley,” he added.
We imagine the bank was absolutely thrilled to receive a reply from a dog. Anyway, apparently this isn’t the first time that someone has opened an account in their pet’s name.
“I worked in a branch years ago, and people used to name their accounts after their animals and use them to pay for things such as vets’ or kennel fees. The new homeowners do not owe the bank anything. This is the previous tenant’s debt, so they shouldn’t worry about it,” said Grant McDonald, a spokesman for the bank.
You hear that Noodles? They’re looking for you to pay off your debts…
