Creepy Capital – Have a Hellish Night in Dublin
Spook yourself silly in Dublin’s Fair City. Fans of vampires, not limited to Twilight fans, will enjoy the inaugural Bram Stoker Festival My Name is Dracula, taking place from October 26th – 28th,when vampires take over the streets of Dublin. Meet bestselling US crime author, Patricia Cornwell, in Trinity College and get her take on modern-day vampires (anyone else suspect she’s not a fan of Edward?!) Enjoy films, exhibitions, plays, literature and performances including the screening of cult classic Nosferatu: A Not-So-Silent Symphony, in Meeting House Square. Ouroborus Theatre Company will present “Stoker” a newly written play based on the life of Bram Stoker, and don’t miss the special spectacle performance from Spraoi in the majestic courtyard of Dublin Castle on Sunday evening October 28th.

Who You Gonna Call? Become a Ghostbuster in Wicklow
Gaols are scary at the best of times, but you’d better have your wits about you for a trip to Wicklow’s Historic Gaol this Halloween. Become a ghost-buster (humming the theme tune while you do is entirely up to you…) by booking yourself in for one of its paranormal investigation nights, which run at weekends from 9pm to 3am…if you dare. Not for the faint-hearted, and you might not get any sleep… There is also a special Halloween Night tour, with character actors to get you in the mood. If you’re making the trip, why not stay over in town and take a walk in the Wicklow Mountains the next day to recover…

If you asked a Cork person what county was the scariest, chances are you’d be told ‘Cork, boy. Sure Cork’s the best at everything…’ Put the local theory to the test with a trip to The Nightmare Realm. Running until October 31st at Custom house Quay, this high-tech walk-through horror house is for over-13’s only. Themed on an asylum, become the star of your very own horror movie, and be sure to expect the unexpected…
Corkonians and visitors can also enjoy the 12th Annual Ghost Convention in the 19th century Cork City Gaol (October 26th). Join paranormal investigators, psychic mediums and even a white witch at this special spooky event…

Mysterious Adventures in Mythical Meath
Celebrate Samhain, the Gaelic harvest festival, at The Spirit of Meath Festival (October 31st – November 6th). See what spirits you can conjure up. Join the Torchlight Procession that leaves the Fairgreen, Athboy, on Halloween night heading for the Hill of Ward, a major spiritual centre for the druids more than 2,000 years ago. Or be spirited away with a nighttime tour of ruined castles and ancient graveyards in Oldcastle. Nature lovers might enjoy a freaky farm experience at Farmaphobia at Causey Farm in Fordstown.
Of course you could just cuddle up to watch a creepy movie… Snuggle under the stars in Rathoath and watch a classic Halloween horror at Tatttersalls Country House Spooktacular Halloween Drive-In Movie (October 25th – 31st). Just make sure no one’s creeping up behind you!

Have a Fright-Full Time in Boo-tiful Galway…
The Galway Aboo Festival takes place from October 26th – 28th on the medieval streets of the city’s Latin Quarter. Catch an exciting new performance of ‘The Dead Arise’ on Friday and afterwards join in an eerie funeral street parade. On Saturday the award winning LUXe Theatre Company present the Galway Abooo Spooktacular Street Spectacle, when the cobblestoned streets will be taken over with exotic sculpture, wild music and spectacular feats. Save your scariest costume for Sunday, and thrill the town in the Fancy Dress Party Trail.
