Riina Cooke had to deal with some difficult news when she was informed that her beloved boxer dog, Romeo, was diagnosed with an untreatable type of bone cancer.
In a bid to take her mind off the prospect of losing her four-legged best friend, Riina compiled a bucket list ensuring the terminally-ill boxer dog enjoyed his last few days.
The 32-year-old British Colombian woman organised a series of activities for Romeo to enjoy and documented each of them along the way.
“I was just so upset for the first few days, I needed to do something to occupy my mind,” she told the Metro UK.
“I decided to put together a list of fun things for us to do together, for example, riding a police car and fire engine, having a steak dinner, professional massage, try sushi and to go on a blind date with another boxer.”
Judging by these images Riina shared of Romeo online, he had a great time.
Shortly after the 22nd bucket list activity was completed, Romeo’s condition deteriorated and on March 16th Riina made the tough decision to end his paina and have him put down.
“It was bittersweet, I had to let Romeo go. We had so many great memories together but it wasn’t fair to keep him alive when he was in so much pain,” she explained.
Adding: “(The bucket list) gave my dog the chance to experience things most will never get a chance to. I enjoyed spending so much time with him, I loved seeing him really happy.”
