Ever had that heart-sinking feeling when you know you’ve just emailed or text the wrong person? Awful isn’t it. So, how would you feel if you accidentally sent an email to your partner recalling your most intimate moments but also accidentally emailed your entire office as well?
When receptionist Melanie Anderson who works with her husband-to-be Eric Knisz at Integrated Subsea Services Ltd sent a brief message to colleagues explaining that the lunchtime sandwich van had arrived outside their building, she made sure to copy in everyone at the firm.
But what she didn’t realise is that she also included a chain of intimate emails between her and Eric that revealed intimate details about their sex life!
Within a few hours, the email had made the rounds to other companies in Aberdeen and was all over social networking sites.
The couple shared intimate details about their sex life with their whole office
Speaking about the couple’s exchange, Bruce Webster, HR for the company ISS said: “’Personal emails are not encouraged at work and we have taken the appropriate action with the members of staff concerned.
“They are absolutely mortified by the content of the email trail which was meant to be private and apologise for any offence caused by it going out with our organisation.”
But they should content themselves with the fact that they’re not the first people to make such a cringe-worthy blunder.
Last year, a top recruitment executive in Manchester was forced to quit his job after he hit ‘reply all’ when sending a rejection letter to unemployed Manos Katsampoukas.
Gary Chaplin, who earned £200,000 a year at the firm Stark Brooks, was so incensed by the email he received that he told the prospective employee to “f**k off” and wrote “you are too stupid to get a job, even in banking”. Chaplin was left red faced when he unwittingly also sent it to 4,000 other recruiters and employers that Manos has contacted in the process.
