His response was brilliant.
If you’re a lover of the UK’s longest running soap, you will know that things were hotting up between Billy and Todd in recent episodes of Coronation Street.
Monday night’s instalment of the show saw the couple kissing passionately on a bed in a hotel room.
The response from many viewers was positive with some people taking to twitter to praise the bosses and writers on the show for airing the scene.
Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy, thanked fans for the support he received for the scene while acknowledging the negativity.
So many lovely, supportive & hilarious tweets about tonight's @itvcorrie!
Plus only a few from the homophobes! Maybe we're winning a little.— Daniel Brocklebank (@Dan_Brocklebank) September 5, 2016
There was, unfortunately, a lot of negativity surrounding Bruno Langley and Daniel’s romantic scene.
One twitter user described the scene of the couple as ‘sickening’.
@itvcorrie Homosexual scenes in #Corrie tonight were sickening. Most now tolerate this practice but we don't need it rammed down our throats

Daniel quickly responded with a bit of humour.
Oh Rob.. How funny of you to make an oral sex joke at this difficult time.. https://t.co/FACgIzI0OU

He then added a more serious, but brilliant come back which deserves a round of applause.
Had many angry tweets saying "I'm disgusted my kids saw men kiss on tv"
I'm disgusted they left it up tv to teach their kids how love works— Daniel Brocklebank (@Dan_Brocklebank) September 5, 2016
He then shared a final message of gratitude after this previous tweet received a huge amount of positive attention.
Thanks for ur AMAZING messages! Let's not hate on the homophobes. We're bigger than that. Hate breeds more hate. They need love & education.

Last month, Todd and Billy shared a kiss on the show, which lead TV regulator OfCom to receive 67 complaints. But OfCom confirmed that there would be no investigation as the scenes (obviously) didn’t break any rules.
We love that Coronation Street is portraying real life in their show and representing love and we hope to see more of it on the soap.
