The images show the house covered in faeces, maggots and rotten produce.
The landlord explained that the house was in "pristine" condition when he rented it to the couple who have three young children around two years ago.
The man told presenter Neil Prendeville that his wife called into the house recently and “came upon a scene which – if Steven Spielberg tried to create it for a horror movie, he couldn’t.”
Three of the toilets were blocked, with the family using black bags as makeshift toilets for more than three months.
Every appliance in the house apparently needed to be replaced, with the landlord estimating €6,000 in repairs.
The images sparked outrage on social media with the majority of comments expressing concern about the three young children involved.
