New research has revealed that Irish people take 40 TIMES more selfies than Americans, putting paid to the notion that we're a shy and retiring type.
Huawei mapped out research on hundreds of thousands of pictures from Ireland, U.S.A. and the U.K to find that per capita, Ireland also takes eight times more selfies than England.
It looks as though those from the City of the Tribes are most proud of their pout, with Galway claiming the title as Selfie Capital of Ireland. Those from Galway take six times more selfies per capita than Dublin followed closely by Limerick and Cork.
The Huawei Snapys, which launched today, are independent awards for the ever growing Irish Instagram community. Currently one in four 15-24 year olds in Ireland are on Instagram with almost 50 per cent of people logging on to the creative platform daily.
As for the most snapped location in the country? That honour goes to county Clare and the Cliffs of Moher.
The #HuaweiSnapys awards ceremony will take place in Dublin this October. The judges, all keen Instagrammers will decide on the winner along with an online public vote from huaweisnapys.com.
