It is the one question you just should not ask.
And if you have been on the receiving end of having been asked if you are pregnant when you most definitively are not, well, then you know just how awkward this can be.
However, when Chrissy Teigen was recently asked that very question on her social media, the mum-of-two had a great response.
The exchange happened last week after Teigen posted a pic of herself and husband John Legend on holidays in Italy. The pair looked like they were having great fun recreating scenes from the reality TV show Four Weddings with Chrissy wearing both a towel and a bridal veil in the photo she uploaded onto Instagram.
Teigen, who looked more gorgeous than most of us will ever look in a bath towel, got the question “baby bump?” from one follower upon posting the image.
Having previously spoken about both struggling to get pregnant and overcoming negative thoughts on how her body has changed after babies, Teigen took the time to reply to this particular question, pointing out “think twice about asking this, there are people who have trouble conceiving and it hurts every time.”
Here is her answer in full:
The mum-of-two is clearly taking this with a dose of humour, and, as a public figure, is probably used to reading insensitive comments about herself, but her advice to the Instagram user can be applied to anyone who is about to ask any person (famous or not) if they are pregnant: Just don’t.
