Chloë Grace Moretz Gets Task of Carrie-ing On the Character

Chloë Grace Moretz landed the role of playing Carrie in the new remake and is currently in the middle of filming. But how will this version compare to the original?

It was a 1976 horror hit that still has audiences quaking in their boots but does the new remake of Carrie pose a threat to the original film?

After all it has one of Hollywood’s hottest new stars playing the title role. Yes Chloë Grace Moretz is stepping into the troubled teen’s shoes for next year’s release. You may have seen her in the horror remake Let Me In or the action flick Kick-Ass.

And while Sissy Spacek did a fantastic job the first time around Moretz is incredibly talented and has as good a chance as anyone to win over any sceptics. She also has Julianne Moore as support. The Hannibal star is said to be playing the role of Carrie’s mother.

According to reports the story itself is different to the 1976 movie choosing instead to stick closely to the 1974 novel by Stephen King.

In case you haven’t read it or seen the original movie, it’s about a high school girl who unleashes her supernatural powers on her peers who have bullied her. Even the script has been completely rewritten.

But this isn’t necessarily a negative thing. In fact it is encouraging to hear as so many remakes don’t try to be different. They simply aim to be better and thus often fail. At least this way the remake isn’t trying to be very like the original and therefore might just avoid such criticism if it isn’t as successful.

Either way, it will be exciting to see how one of the most promising rising actresses copes with a character and film that is so highly regarded within the horror genre. Besides, you never know what the consequences might be…
