If you’ve been feeling the cold these past few days, we have some bad news for you this morning – according to reports our weather is set to get worse over the next few days (yes, it’s disappointing. We know).
Temperatures are set to plummet to a chilly -4C this weekend, however the good news is that meteorologists are still saying that it is “too dry” for snow.
“On Saturday night, into Sunday, the frost will be severe with night-time temperatures dropping to -3C or -4C,” said a spokesperson for Met Eireann, speaking to the Irish Daily Star.
“The skies are due to be clear and there is no precipitation – so it will be cold but there is no snow forecast,” the spokesperson added.
Well, given the hardship they’re having in the UK with the snow, we’re sort of relieved that we won’t be getting hit with some of the white stuff in the near future.
The weather is set to freeze in the run-up to Christmas
However, our weather is expected to get a lot colder and a bit more intense in the run up to Christmas.
“There are growing signs that an episode of possibly severe wintry weather will set in around December 12 and last until Christmas,” said Peter O’Donnell from Irish Weather Online.
“This cold spell will break down around December 23 – leading to a milder Christmas Day,” he added.
This means that our chances of having a white Christmas are very slim, but it’s a good thing that the ‘big freeze’ of 2010 won’t be repeated.
If you’re getting out and about this weekend keep yourself warm and be safe on the roads!
