We’re the first to admit it, we always turn to our dads during a time of crisis. After all, he’s always there and he always knows what to say.

Speaking of which, here are some (mostly helpful) pieces of advice that every father teaches his daughter over the years…

“Ask your mother”

If he doesn’t have the answers (which is hardly ever), he always knows where we can find them.

“You’re not going out in that”

We were planning on it but we can’t bear the thought of his disapproval and he’s right, it is a bit short and would look better with tights. (And we thought he knew nothing about fashion!)

“You can always come home”

Free food and our own bed? Don’t tempt us!

“Money doesn’t grow on trees”

But, when we really need it, money does have a habit of growing in dad’s wallet!

“Back in my day…”

Because of him, his 20-hour-long days and his lack of running hot water, we have learned to appreciate what we have.

“Ah sure, it could be worse”

Never a truer or more comforting phrase was spoken.

“Haven’t you got something better to do?”

Be it watching EastEnders or chatting on the telephone, dads are always encouraging us to be more proactive. Now that’s what we call good parenting, even though we might not admit it at the time.

“Eat a healthy breakfast every day”

He’s always looking out for us, making sure that we’re taking care of ourselves with a good breakfast every morning. We have to admit, he does have a point when he says it kick-starts your day.

Our dads really are the best! They have cared and looked after us over the years and for that, we’re incredibly grateful. CHEER for your Dad by sending him a personalised Father’s Day Card courtesy of Cheerios.
