Challenge Yourself: Three New Things To Try This Week

If you’re feeling like you might be in a bit of a rut, now is the time to act! Don’t hold back or tell yourself you’ll wait for next week, next month of or a new year – there is no time like the present! Every week we’re suggesting some ways for you to challenge yourself and set new goals. Have a go at one or all of these in the coming days, and let us know how you get on!

Set yourself a sporting challenge

Whether you’re a dedicated gym-goer or you haven’t exercised with purpose since your school sports day, there’s always one step available to take you to the next level. If you’re totally unfit, download a helping app that will give you the guidelines to get yourself back in action, step by step. If you’re a fitness fanatic – aim high and sign yourself up for a half marathon or a mud run – get out of the gym and into some great company. Not only will you feel great when you reach a personal goal, but it’s likely you’ll meet some great people along the way too.

Become a tourist in your own backyard

Never been to the Cliffs of Moher? Haven’t seen the inside of the National Museum? Don’t wait for a visitor to give you an excuse to tag along – exploring alone is a great way to expand your mind and make use of solo time. Take yourself out to a tourist destination in your locality that you’ve never been to before this week, and enjoy the pleasures of being a tourist while only minutes from home.

Let it all go…

One of the hardest things to do in this age is to switch off. We’re wired to be always on, whether it’s via email, smartphone, TV, social networking… the list goes on. Be brave enough to sit in silence for a welcome change. For one day this week, switch off from technology and allow yourself to be alone with your thoughts. You’ll come back renewed and refreshed, and ready for action!
