Calling All Home Cook Heores – Share Your Recipe for a Chance to win €1,000

Calling all home cook heroes!

Avonmore has this week announced details of the first ever Avonmore Cook & Taste Awards 2013. The competition which is aimed at home cooks throughout Ireland has now commenced and will run for six weeks.

Entrants, aged 18 years and over, are invited to submit their favourite tried and tested recipe through Cook with Avonmore’s Facebook Application www.cookwithavonmore.ie/comp to be in with a chance to win €1,000 in cash.

“The competition is to encourage people to create simple home cooked recipes that are tasty and appealing,” says Eithne O’Hara, Marketing Manager of Avonmore Cream. “We believe that there is a wealth of cookery talent in Ireland and that more people are now cooking and entertaining at home. Only recently it was revealed that 71% of people in Ireland would like to expand on their recipe repertoire; 37% of us like to cook traditional dishes with our own twist on them but only 12% claim to regularly cook more than ten dishes."

This competition will appeal to those who like to create simple home cooked recipes as well as those who like to experiment with new ideas. Above all, we are looking for recipes that utilise the best of Avonmore products including milk, butter, cheese and our wide range of creams.”

The competition is featured on www.cookwithavonmore.ie and entry is through the CookwithAvonmore Facebook

Entrants must submit recipes using at least one Avonmore ingredient, list all the ingredients, provide details of the method of cooking and upload a photo of the final dish. Any category including starters, mains or desserts can be submitted and the final shortlist will be judged by leading Irish based celebrity chef, columnist and cookery book author Rozanne Stevens.

Rozanne advises those who are entering the Cook & Taste Awards to “Keep it simple! Enter a dish that you know works & have cooked before! When photographing your dish make sure it is on a plain surface and in natural daylight for the best effect.  Enter a dish that you really enjoy cooking for family & friends & above all, have fun!”

The deadline for entries to the Cook & Taste awards is September 9^th. Winners will be announced on the September 30^th 2013.
