Well, how are you feeling today? Are you full of optimism and eagerly looking forward to the brand-spanking new year that’s stretching ahead of you? If not, you should be because, let’s face it, 2013 is going to be an awesome year for you.
Yes, really. Let’s get some positive feelings pumping around the place. If you’re fed up of passing every single year in a bit of a rut, maybe it’s time you took on a change of perspective and saw all the potential that 2013 has to offer you.
You can do, be or have absolutely anything this year! If you’re determined to make a few changes and if you’re dedicated to having an absolutely magical 2013, here are a few ideas on how you can start prepping yourself in order to have the best year of your life. Are you inspired yet?
Make peace with the year that was: Before you can really, truly start this new year, it’s important that you cut ties with the past and make peace with the ghost of 2012. If you’re holding onto bad memories or carrying a few grudges from the past twelve months then it is now time to shake them off and let them go. The past is over and honestly? Holding onto bad memories or embarrassing/painful moments does absolutely nothing except make you feel bad and make you unable to appreciate the good of the present moment.
Write down everything bad that happened in 2012, then take a deep breath and rip it up. Throw it out and vow not to think about it again. It’s a brand new year full of potential and opportunity – the past doesn’t matter anymore. Promise.
Are you ready to have the best year ever?
Adopt a new perspective: It’s amazing how magical life can get if we’re willing to release our old perspectives and start viewing everything through a lens of appreciation and optimism. Decide that for 2013 you’re going to be happy. Decide that you’re going to believe you can do anything you want, that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Start looking at life through a positive perspective and you’ll suddenly find that there are loads of things for you to feel good and positive about. The more good you notice, the more good you’ll see reflected in your own life.
Make gratitude a daily thing: We all know that it’s important to appreciate the things that we have while they’re in our life. Writing a list of ten things that you appreciate first thing in the morning can help you to face your day with a positive and happy mood. Did you know that being grateful also has a positive effect on your health? Research has proven that people who express gratitude tend to live longer (and have better health) than people who don’t.
Practice generosity: When you give others more, you will receive more in return. Over 2013 make a conscious effort to be generous with your time, your ideas, your advice – by doing this you’ll forge stronger connections with people and you’ll have more friends than you know what to do with. Remember: what goes around, comes around.
