A bride has made her terminally-ill mother’s wish come true just hours before she passed away.
Sophie Steans’ mum, Lisa Moore (45), lost her battle with a rare form of cancer on the day that her daughter tied the knot.
It was Lisa’s wish to see her four children get married and while she was rushed to hospital on the morning of Sophie’s nuptials, she told nurses that it was a very special day.
Sophie told the Birmingham Mail: “The nurses said mum’s last words were ‘my daughter is getting married today which is really special to me.’ I am glad we granted her last wish.
“She got to see me in my dress. If I hadn’t gone ahead she would have been really cross, so I went on for my Mum. It was all about her”.
Her father Kevin went to St Catherine’s Church in Burbage but then left the celebrations to be by his wife’s side in hospital. He told Sophie about her mother’s death the morning after the wedding.
