Presenter and former winner of Big Brother, Brian Dowling, has apparently not been asked to return to his presenting duties for the show for the next series. Emma Willis, presenter for Big Brother on the Side, is rumoured to be taking over as the main host for the Channel 5 series.
The decision taken by the show’s producers has apparently been due to the fact that they would like to inject a little bit of glamour into the show, according to Heat magazine.
Dowling, who won the show in 2001, has been hosting for two years but Channel 5 bosses are attempting to return the show to the Davina McCall glory days.
A source from Channel 5 commented: ““Brian has been a great host but Emma is seen by channel chiefs as a true successor to Davina. They’re talking to her now about taking over the role from the summer.”
According to the English magazine, Dowling is contracted to host the next two series of the show and will therefore need to be compensated if he is removed from the position.
Big Brother has declined in popularity over the years and its move from prime time slot on Channel 4 to sister station Channel 5 may signal the show is in its last days.
