Going through a break up is never easy and aside from the break up itself, one of the hardest parts is telling your friends and family that you’re no longer a couple.

However, a young couple in Brooklyn have decided to get the awkward ‘break up talk’ with their friends out of the way by posting a joint musical video on YouTube.

Jonathan Mann and Ivory King said that posting a music video about why they decided to split was the easiest most pain-free way of letting their friends and family know that they had decided to part ways.

“I didn’t want to make a post on Facebook and have that be it,” said Jonathan, speaking to the New York Daily News.

“And I didn’t want to have to explain it over and over to people, because that could be really painful,” he added.

Jonathan and Ivory thought telling their friends via YouTube would be less painful

So why did Jonathan and Ivory decide to split? Well we learn in the first verse of their song that Jonathan really wanted to have children and Ivory really didn’t.

The couple, who spent five years together, sing to their friends that they still want them to “invite us to your parties and we’ll work it out, no don’t feel weird, we love all of you.”

The video was filmed as part of Jonathan’s ‘Song A Day’ project which has already been running for 1,400 days. Ivory has often appeared in Jonathan’s video, although this time you can tell how upset both parties are.

Needless to say, the video has already gone viral but we imagine that it’s not much consolation for the former couple.
