British retailing chain Marks & Spencer have announced that they plan to make all children’s toys gender neutral by Spring after being called out on packaging by a UK politician.
The company responded to a Twitter complaint about their ‘Boy Stuff Marble Run Toy’ from British Labour MP Stella Creasy, after she tweeted to explain that she was thinking of purchasing her daughter a gift until she read the labelling.

The MP’s tweet also included a tag to the marketing campaign group, ‘Let Toys Be Toys’, who work to put an end to retailers “limiting children’s imaginations and interests.”
@stellacreasy Hi Stella, we’ve listened to customer feedback and by Spring next year all of our toys will be gender neutral. Thanks

M&S were quick to respond and reveal that a decision had been made to make all toys gender neutral by Spring 2014.
@marksandspencer great – why don’t you meet with @LetToysBeToys and work with them on it?

Stella replied to the company’s quick business change by suggesting a meet with the ‘Let Toys Be Toys’ campaign group.
