Putting up with an unwelcome guest is always pretty annoying but an Irish family who live in Northern England were terrified when an unfriendly poltergeist took up residence in the kitchen of their new council house.
The Doherty family moved into the home in June but revealed that the creature loved nothing more than to spook them by turning on the kettle and rattling the teacups in the cupboard.
According to The Sun, mum of three Rosaleen Doherty said: “It was like it was making tea for itself. It was terrifying.”

The family now lives in a caravan after vacating the spooky house.
“We’d hear it knock on the front door, then the lights would turn on in the kitchen,” said Rosaleen.
The family recruited a top class priest to perform a exorcism of the three bedroom home to send the pestering poltergeist on its way.
“I felt like it wanted us out,” she finished.
The family are now waiting to be placed into a new home.
Somehow, this story doesn’t seem very legit. We’re wondering if the Doherty family are holding out for a house with a better view!
