We’re all about getting inventive when it comes to cooking on a budget.
But one woman has taken thrifty cooking to a whole new level.
Blogger Zoe Stavri made some homemade sourdough bread using yeast… from her yeast infection.
A moment.
When Zoe realised she had thrush, the cogs started turning.
Taking the “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade approach”, she decided to use the excess fungus to bake bread, and live tweet it.
Have thrush. Genuinely considering using it to make sourdough.

@stavvers this is awesome, if it works you should try to homebrew a beer as well! — Hale (@HaleOhioBeer) November 24, 2015
@stavvers Holy yeast infection! Did it work?

@stavvers Science! Omg am genuinely excited to see if this works — pensive riot dog (@thespyglass) November 21, 2015
Others not so much.
@stavvers I’d worry that eating it would give me thrush again and I fucking hate thrush.

@stavvers @_btagee now thts disgusting — BoricuaEnSC (@ArroyoEacid) November 24, 2015
Others got technical.
@stavvers so “yeast infections” are actually fungal, not yeast. Yeast is a single cell organism, fungus is not.

@stavvers also, fungus is much stronger and could potentially grow in your mouth.

@stavvers I don’t think it will work as C. albicans does not ferment sucrose. Also swab from vag might not have enough starting culture ?
— La1a (@L_a_1_a) November 21, 2015
@stavvers I would also incubate the mixture as close to 37 degrees as possible as optimal temp for human pathogen. Hahaha! #NerdInsight?

We’re not sure if this is actually dangerous or not, but we’re still gonna say don’t try this at home kids.
