If you’ve ever made a few embarrassing Tweets, chances are you’re not going to be thrilled with the following news.
According to reports today, the powers-that-be at Twitter are planning on creating an archive of every tweet ever sent. This means that those embarrassing tweets about ex-boyfriends (or those drunken tweets you may have made after a night out) will be kept on record for the rest of time (probably).
As it stands, users of the social networking website can only see their messages dating back to a certain point. However this is all set to change towards the end of the year, as Twitter plans to introduce a full record of the activity carried out on our own accounts.
Twitters new tweet archive: like or dislike?
Apparently, the move has already caused a number of privacy fears to surface, with many users believing that old tweets could come back to bite them in the behind – especially if they are being kept on record.
So how will it work? Well the tweet archive is likely to be a downloadable document or database file, but no final plans have been made yet. According to Dick Costolo, the CEO of the social networking website, plans for the archive will be finalised by the end of the year.
As it stands, users can only access the latest 3,200 messages they’ve sent.
How do you feel about Twitter keeping all of your tweets in an archive? Is it a good idea or a bad idea?
