We’re all guilty of having a crush on a few fictional men (Captain America, how are ya?) however, we can safely say that we’d never care more about a fake man than we would about our real-life partner.
However, a new survey commissioned by AudioGO, an audiobook publisher, has revealed that more than half of the women polled are attracted to fictional bad boys. Shockingly one in ten women admitted that they felt more intensely for these made-up playboys than they did for their own real-life fella!
Given the fact that we all have Gatsby fever lately, it wasn’t surprising to see that Jay Gatsby from F.Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby made the cut, as well as Tony Stark from Ironman and Bruce Wayne from Batman.
Christian Bale as Batman
“Fictional playboys’ mix of power and charm ensures they were a hit with both men and women. It’s the air of adventure and charm that makes playboys so endearing and part of many great stories,” said Rachel Josephson from AudioGo.
“For men, playboys serve as a fantasy role model to try and emulate, while many women are excited by their devil-may-care demeanour,” she added.
We’re pretty sure it goes without saying that raw sex appeal was named as a key quality for these make-believe men.
Anyway, here is the top ten list. Does your fictional crush feature on it?
1. James Bond
2. Bruce Wayne
3. Tony Stark
4. Don Juan
5. Dorian Gray
6. Jay Gatsby
7. Austin Powers (yeah, we were surprised by this one too…)
8. Thomas Crown
9. Alfie
10. Arthur
