Baking Mad! Ireland’s Biggest Baking Festival is Coming to Galway

Looks like Galway will become the baking capital of Ireland next month!

Bake Fest Galway is a two-day national celebration of baking and cake goodness, which will take place in Leisureland, Galway from 5 – 6 October.

The food event is aimed at baking enthusiasts and families and will feature various exhibitions, competitions and tasty treats across the weekend.

Some of Ireland’s top celebrity bakers and food writers will be in the crowd, showcasing their culinary prowess including BBC’s Patrick Ryan and baking author Lilly Higgins.

Michelin Star Chef Kevin Thornton and Emer Murray from Goya’s will also be on hand to demonstrate the skills and sharing tips on how to make the finest cakes and breads.

There will also be great opportunities to sample produce from the highest quality food suppliers in the country all showcasingat the event.

“I’m really excited to be baking at the very first Bake Fest Galway this year and will be in my element surrounded by all of those cakes!” said Lilly.

“Baking is one of my favourite things to do and there’s nothing nicer than icing the perfect coffee cake or putting the magical finishing touches to a wedding cake. I’ll be demoing one of my favourite baking recipes. It’ll be a weekend of sugary highs and all things sweet!”

All funds generated at Bake Fest Galway are being given to ACT for Meningitis, an organisation aimed at increasing awareness and educating people around the signs and symptoms of Meningitis.
