It had already claimed the title of the biggest film of the year and the most successful Bond film to date but now Skyfall has become the highest grossing film of all time.
Well in the UK it has anyway! The latest instalment of the Bond franchise, starring Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem, has taken over £94 million at the UK box office so far.
Daniel Craig has helped to revive the James Bond film franchise in recent years.
It knocked James Cameron’s 3D epic Avatar off the top spot where it has been sitting nicely for quite some time.
Speaking about this announcement, Skyfall producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said: “We’re overwhelmed with gratitude to the cinema-going audiences in the UK who have made Skyfall the highest grossing film of all time.”
Skyfall also became the most successful Bond film ever.
“We are very proud of this film and thank everybody, especially Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes, who have contributed to its success,” they added.
Not that we’re all that surprised by the news considering the incredible reviews the film got and the hype surrounding it. Besides, who in the world wouldn’t enjoy watching Mr Craig kicking butt and getting his top off?!
