Okay women, it’s time to ‘fess up. How many of you have used “that-time-of-the-month” as an excuse for getting out of something? Be honest, we won’t judge (in fact some of us are guilty of pulling the ‘cramps!’ card every now and then…)

When it comes to periods, it seems that we’re a sneaky, dishonest bunch. Yes, really. In fact, according to a new survey, almost 40 per cent of us have lied about our monthly cycle in order to avoid doing something that we just couldn’t be arsed doing.

The survey of 1,000 women, which was conducted by Panadol, found that 38 per cent of women regularly pretend to be on their period in order to avoid certain activities.

Believe it or not, the majority of us tell a little fib about our period in order to get out of exercising while one in seven of us use it as a way to avoid sex (because we all know nothing stops a man dead in his tracks like the ‘p’ word!).

Is there anything worse than time-of-the-month cramps?

A further 20 per cent of us admitted that we use our period as an excuse if we’re in a bad mood or if we’re feeling snappy or irritable. And a few of us lie about having our period so we can have some ‘me-time’ and a chance to relax and unwind.

But do we feel bad about these little white lies? Eh…no, actually. The vast majority of the women admitted that they don’t feel guilty about it at all.

What do you think ladies? Have you ever fibbed about the workings of your womb in order to get a little bit of peace/relaxation?
