After ten seasons in the famous chairs, one TV talent show judge is saying ‘Auf Wiedersehen’.
Fans of fashion-design contest Project Runway will be sad to learn that one of the stalwarts of the long-running show is moving on.
Michael Kors will not be seated alongside Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia this year, as his schedule will not “allow a commitment”.
Instead, Zac Posen will rate and slate the would-be designers for the eleventh season of the competition.
It seems to be an amicable split for Kors, with a statement for Lifetime TV confirming that Kors would return as a special guest judge for the season finale.
Posen expressed excitement at his new appointment, saying: “This was an amazing opportunity… I hope I’m here to give a new perspective to the designers.”
“Posen, you are in!” – Zac Posen will be a judge for the new season of Project Runway
Posen also spoke highly of his predecessor, saying: “When I was a guest judge, I saw he was always a generous, warm mentor.”
In another twist to the new season of the show, this time around contestants will compete as teams instead of individuals.
“You can imagine the designers’ reactions when we first told them,” Klum said of the shake-up, “but it resulted in some really interesting conflicts and partnerships. And that is how designers work in the real world — they do have to work on teams and manage teams — you get to understand their personalities more.”
Project Runway will return to television screens in January 2013.
