And The Bride Wore… A Bed Sheet?!

While most of us dream of haute couture for our wedding day, this poor woman had to settle for a white bed sheet...

Her

When it comes to our future wedding day, most of us have a solid idea of the type of dress we’d love to waltz down the aisle in. Very few of us would ever think about wearing a bed sheet and we imagine it wasn’t in Cynthia Reese’s plans either until this happened.

The Huffington Post reports that Ms Reese and her boyfriend had been engaged for three weeks before they discovered that she was pregnant. The couple planned on getting hitched in court before the baby was born, however baby had some other plans.

Cynthia’s water broke a whole two months before her due date and she was forced to check into a hospital for the rest of her pregnancy. Naturally enough this threw a major spanner in the works with regards to her wedding. But her lovely fiancé decided to surprise her with a wedding ceremony in the hospital chapel (aww! Romantic, much?)

The couple swapped vows in the hospital’s church

When hospital staff got wind of Cynthia’s fiancé’s plans, they immediately stepped in to help him plan the wedding.

Nurse Melody White, who works at the Akron General Medical Centre, made a wedding dress out of a bed sheet and wrapped a blue heart monitor belt around it as a sash. Hospital visitors gave the bride flowers and one visitor played the Wedding March on the lobby piano. Cynthia’s fiancé bought their wedding rings in the hospital’s gift shop.

“I was so excited. I was so happy and overwhelmed and everybody pitching in and the surprise my fiancé gave me. I’m about to cry right now. I couldn’t have asked for me,” said Cynthia.

And that’s not all folks! The couple’s son was born in full health the following morning – a mere three days after Cynthia checked into the hospital.

We love a happy ending, don’t you?
