An American tourist who kept insisting on singing with a band at a karaoke bar in Thailand was killed by one of the musicians say police.
Bobby Ray Carter, 51, died of a stab wound in the chest after a fight broke out at a bar at Aon Nang beach in Krabi province said police Lt. Col. Jongrak Pimthong.
The police said that Carter was intoxicated and refused to leave the stage and let other people have a go at singing with the band.
Carter was stabbed twice in his chest with an iron rod and died on his way to the local hospital and his 27 year old son was also injured.
“Witnesses said Carter got angry when the band played ‘Hotel California’ instead of the song he requested, and he refused to step down,” said Krabi city police chief Col. Taksin Pochakorn.
The three suspects are now in custody and are facing charges of assault and murder according to the Phuket Gazette.
It is estimated that a record 22 million tourists visited Thailand last year with Aon Nang being a popular tourist spot.
