Guests gathered on Friday, 4th July 2014 at the Front Lounge bar for the official launch of the 22nd GAZE International LGBT Film Festival Dublin. The eagerly anticipated festival takes place this August bank holiday weekend (Thursday, 31st July – Monday, 4th August, 2014). The central theme of this year’s festival focuses on “The Power of Our Stories”, bringing together stories from Ireland and around the world, which will be screened in the Lighthouse Cinema.

Last week, national treasure Panti Bliss was on hand to launch the festival which already looks set to inspire and excite, with a number of Irish premieres and award winning documentaries being screend for the first time in Ireland.

This year film enthusiasts are in for an extra treat, as the festival will feature a world exclusive 10 minute preview of Queen of Ireland, Panti’s new documentary, which will be officially premiered in 2016. The film follows Rory O’Neill (aka Panti Pandora Bliss) journey from a small town in Mayo to becoming a ‘national treasure’. Director, Conor Horgan will be present at the screening to talk through the progression of the film, which will take place on Saturday, 2nd August from 6.30pm in the Lighthouse Cinema.

A key highlight in the Irish LGBT social calendar, this year’s programme certainly doesn’t dissapoint with key screenings set to take place including a number of Irish premieres and award winning documentaries.
