A Single Mum Whose Babysitter Cancelled Last Minute Took Her Final Exam Thanks To This Kind Professor

Now that's a lesson in understanding.

Being a single mum is tough.

As well as managing your work life and trying to keep everything ticking over, we have massive respect for one mum who was studying for her degree at the same time too.

Monica Romero is a 28-year old Army ROTC student, who is currently studying at the University of Louisville. She’s also a single mum to two kids – Marcus and Mikayla.

But it’s Monica’s lecturer who has caused her story to go viral after he stepped in to make sure she could finish her finals on time with the rest of the class.

Speaking to Buzzfeed, Monica explained how she had arranged for a babysitter to mind her children, but they cancelled on the night she was due to take her military history class.

Texting her friend, she decided to take the children to sit in the hall with her but admitted she was anxious:

“I felt anxiety about it because I knew they weren’t going to sit still.”

She remembered thinking:

“To get the test complete, it’s going to take a miracle.”

Although she initially had her kids quietly sitting on a couch with a tablet, she said she noticed her son was soon trying to get her attention.

Attempting to calm him down, she noticed her professor Dr. Daniel Krebs had followed her outside the room:

“I thought he was going to ask me to leave.”

Instead, Krebs turned to his student and said:

“Go take your test. I’ll take care of this.”

It was Romero’s friend who captured the scene, posting it to Facebook:

Describing the moments as “one of the most caring gestures” of her college career, Victoria Henry wrote:

Romero’s response to her friend’s snap?

“He’s a really great teacher and it was just a genuine act of kindness. I’m just really grateful for it.”
