A Little Piece of Heaven On Earth, Sun, Sea And Surfing On Lahinch Beach

The perfect destination for a surfing break...

Rebecca McKnight

Fancy sitting on a beach in Mexico and embracing the Mexican culture and music?

Corona want you to Break Your Routine, so they could be sending you on an incredible journey to a luxury Mexican resort, the stunning Riviera Maya. You’ll fly away from rainy Dublin, and land in sunny Cancun, then spend 7 nights in the incredible 5* resort. To celebrate this incredible giveaway, we’re taking a closer look at wonderful beaches from Ireland on Her.ie.

Now we know with the weather this week, you literally couldn’t get a better opportunity to spend some time on the beach so what more could you want? Sun sea and surfing!

There are many beaches in Ireland that provide perfect surfing conditions, but one of the best, and perhaps one of our favourites, is Lahinch in Co. Clare. This little town has seen literally thousands of surfers flock to its beach from all over the world and it easy to understand why, the waves in Lahinch are ideal for surfing and the beach is pretty great too.

A big concern for many who would like to surf is their experience level but fear not, Lahinch also provides classes for the inexperienced surfers. For more details on surfing classes in Lahinch, pop over to lahinchsurfschool.com. Former Irish surf champion John McCarthy and his team of surfers will be on hand to talk you through the experience, whether you are a first-timer or someone that has a bit of skill.

Weekend courses are the most popular from the site and you can find more information here. Anyone can get involved, they even run events for Hen Parties!

Lahinch is very easily accessible by car and to be entirely honest, this is the best way to travel, there is nothing like a drive along the coast of Co. Clare, especially if you are bringing your own surf boards. However, Bus Eireann do run services to the town for anyone who just wants to bus it.

If you are feeling a bit crowded on Lahinch beach, it’s only a short trip down the road to the beautiful beaches of Kilkee or indeed some surfing at Doonbeg.

Although many will want to head out surfing over the next few weeks due to the weather, Discover Ireland have mentioned the best time to catch a wave is in the Surfing Season from September to May, however this may also be when serious surfers take to the waves.
