A Case Of Sour Grapes: Irish Wine Lovers Can Expect A Serious Shortage Of Their Favourite Tipple

Global experts expect wine production to drop to its lowest level in more than 30 years.

The Irish are notorious moaners but it seem this time we actually do have something to whine about as experts have forecast a serious shortage of vino this year.

According to The Irish Daily Mirror, those who love nothing more than a tipple after a stressful day at the office will now be paying a lot more to enjoy a glass of hearty red.

Bad weather in many grape harvesting parts of the world has cause production to plummet and the International Organisation of Vine and Wine believes that worldwide production will be down by nearly half a billion gallons by the end of this year.

Our favourite foodie Tom Doorley won’t be happy about the lack of wine!

Frederico Castellucci, director general of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine, said: “We are dipping into reserves to keep supply up.”

A lack of Red, Red Wine makes the Her.ie girls unhappy, but we’re thinking the world’s foodies are a lot more worried about the disastrous shortage.

Will you be paying over the odds for a beloved glass of vino?
